Elena A. Grigorieva is a leading researcher in laboratory of regional social-economical systems, ICARP FEB RAS (2013–present). Earlier she was researcher (1995–2002) and scientific secretary (2002–2013), ICARP FEB RAS.
Elena graduated as a Specialist with Honors in meteorology (1988) from Russian State Hydrometeorological University, Saint-Petersburg, Russia; received a Ph.D. (2003) and Dr.Sc. (2017) degrees in Environmental Science from the Far Eastern Federal University, Vladivostok, Russia.
Dr. Grigorieva is a well-known bioclimatologist, an active member (2005 – present), chancellor of the Executive Board (2011 – 2014); Vice President EB (2014–2017, 2017-2020, 2020-2023) of the International Society of Biometeorology (ISB). Her research interests cover a number of themes in applied geography, particularly in biometeorology, which include human bioclimate, human health and climate, human thermal acclimatization in extreme climates, climate and tourism, agricultural climatology.
Elena is a member of the Russian Geographical Society (2009 – current); the American Meteorological Society (2014 – current); member of AASSA Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Committee from the FEB RAS (2017 - current). She worked as a Scientific Secretary of the Organizing Scientific Committee, International Conferences: “The problems of regional sustainable development in the XX century” and “Present Problems of Regional Development” (2002 – 2014); member of the Organizing Scientific Committee International Conferences "Present Problems of Regional Development (2016 - 2021), Birobidzhan, Russia. Elena is Editorial Board Member of the scientific journal “Regional Problems”: Scientific Secretary (2002 – 2013), Editorial Board Member (2013 – current); serves a s a member of the Commission for professional community at the Legislative Embassy of the Jewish Autonomous Region, Russia; member of Commission for professional community at Department of Natural Resources, Government of the Jewish Autonomous Region.
Dr. Grigorieva is a referee of the “Research Awards in Geography” applications to the Far Eastern Branch, Russian Academy of Sciences (2013 – current); reviewer of the Fulbright awards applications (2013 – current); a referee for International Journal of Biometeorology (Springer), Climate (MDPI), Regional Problems (ICARP FEB RAS).
Dr. Grigorieva was a holder of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) research fellowship to Meteorological Institute, Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg, Germany (2011, July); of Fulbright research fellowship as a Scholar to the United States of America, University of Miami, Department of Geography and Regional Studies (2012, February – July); Fulbright Arctic Initiative III (2021-2022). Elena has received research funding from Civilian Research and Development Foundation (CRDF Global) and Russian Academy of Sciences as a principal investigator of Russian team (2012 – 2014); from the Far-Eastern Branch, Russian Academy of Sciences, as principal investigator in numerous projects.
Elena has published more than 150 journal articles. She joined more than 100 international scientific congresses in Russia and 20 conferences abroad with research presentations, including AASSA meetings in 2012, 2015 and 2018.
