Biography
Merva Soluk Tekkesin is a Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at the Istanbul University, Institute of Oncology. She completed her dental school training in 2003, residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology, as well as her Ph.D., was completed in Tumour Pathology at Istanbul University in 2010. Dr. Soluk Tekkesin was an overseas training fellow with GDC registration at King’s College London, Guy’s Hospital, and Department of Head & Neck and Oral Pathology in 2009. She was the first Tier 5 International Training Fellow to complete training in the United Kingdom. She served as European Councillor of International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathologists between 2014-2020. Now she is the first digital communication officer of IAOP until 2024. Her main interests are odontogenic lesions, fibro-osseous lesions, oral cancer, oral potentially malignant disorders and also digital pathology and AI. She has lots of high-quality publications and book chapters, including 4th edition of WHO classification of Head and Neck Tumors. Dr. Soluk Tekkesin has been assigned a ‘Visiting Professor’ by Tehran University of Medical Sciences. She was awarded with Turkish Academy of Science Outstanding Young Scientist Award in the field of medical sciences in 2019.
