Biography
I have 15 years experience as an academic (researcher/scholar) in higher education in Australia and the UK. My teaching areas are Public Health: health promotion, gender equity, social determinants of health; and Nursing: gender and workforce, nursing image, evidence based practice, culture and health.
My academic qualifications are biology (honours) public health nursing (honours) health education (Masters) and public health (PhD). I am also a registered nurse and health visitor (UK).
My research is strongly focused on health and education equity across these groups: women, international students, students with disability, first in family students. I am experienced in qualitative and mixed methodology research. I teach the integrated PhD and supervise HDR students at Edith Cowan University, Western Australia.
I have been awarded an Australian Awards for University Teaching citation for my ongoing equity work, and a Vice Chancellor Teaching Award for the same.
I am an active mentor of women colleagues and am an LGBT+ ALLY.
